One of the things we love most about living in Puerto Viejo is the amazing wildlife. We have sloths in the trees in our yard, iguanas in neighboring trees, kinkajous (night monkeys) that come and go, and howler monkeys out in the surrounding jungle that start their LOUD noises at around 4:00 a.m. every day.

But the thing that we most  look forward to is the amazing music every day from the birds that surround us beginning around 5:00 a.m. and going on until 5:00 p.m. every day. The different species come and go depending on the time of year so we are always seeing and cataloging new birds.

We created this blog because we have now photographed over 100 different birds – mostly right here in our yard. So here for your viewing pleasure are some of those. We will be adding more from our collection as time permits and as we find new species to include.

Enjoy!!!
